Plate compactors are used to compact, soil, sand, crushed rock to provide a solid sub-base or foundation before laying concrete or hardscapes.
Plate compactors can be broken into a few categories. Asphalt plates, as the name suggests, are designed for compacting asphalt and feature a thin cast base and often carry a small water tank. Standard Plate compactors are often called Wacker Plates and are generally used for compaction of crushed rock and soil in domestic and light industrial applications. Foward / Reversible compactors, often called DPU Plates, are generally heavier than standard compactors and used for heavy-duty compaction. They also have the ability to travel forward’s or backwards for precise compaction and maneuverability.
