Boss Foil Faced 8mm Thermal Blanket
$306.00
Made in Australia from up to 80% recycled material, Boss foil faced blankets are a low cost alternative to reusable curing blankets. The 8mm closed cell foam sheet combined with the foil face provide excellent insulation against extreme temperatures. Foil faced blankets can easily be cut with scissors or a utility knife to go around penetrations or cover irregular shapes.
DID YOU KNOW – At 4°C, the chemical reactions that cure concrete essentially stops, and if the mercury dips below 0°C, the water in the concrete freezes which leads to pressure buildup, scaling and potentially compromises the structure. So, the greater the concrete mass, the greater the risk of thermal cracking. As concrete hydrates and cures, it generates heat and expands. Thermal cracking occurs when the warmer concrete core expands whilst the cooling outer layer contracts. The greater the temperature differential, the greater the stresses and potential for cracking.

FAQs
What is a curing blanket used for?
A curing blanket is used to keep the temperature and moisture levels around fresh concrete consistent. It provides insulation so that the concrete cures evenly and reaches the required strength.
When should I use a curing blanket instead of curing compounds?
A curing blanket is the better choice when cold, windy or changeable conditions make temperature control important. Curing compounds are a good option for surface moisture retention, but they do not hold well in heat or protect the concrete from rapid cooling.
Are curing blankets suitable for all concrete applications?
These blankets are most useful for slabs, driveways, footpaths and precast panels exposed to weather. For work inside a controlled environment, such as internal slabs, a blanket is usually not necessary.
How quickly can Allcon dispatch?
We offer same-day dispatch to metro Sydney and Melbourne and deliver quickly to the rest of Australia. For urgent orders, use our call-and-collect service and pick up your concrete curing blankets directly from our warehouse.
