Vibrating concrete is essential to ensure adequate consolidation and it’s important it is done right. Under vibrate the concrete and you’ll end up with air pockets, over vibrate the concrete and you’ll end up segregating the concrete, either way, this will weaken the concrete and cost a lot to rectify the issue. Consolidation can be achieved by means of either external vibration (vibrating the formwork) or more commonly, internal vibration, immersing the vibrator in the concrete.
