Background
As part of the Sydney Light Rail Construction project (Moore Park (Sydney), Allcon’s construction partner required a formwork solution capable of functioning on a challenging building site. The project required the pouring of 2.5 x 1.9 x 2.4 m manholes to provide access to the sewer system.
Challenge
The site was exposed to live traffic, the project was to be constructed within a confined workspace, and the project was to be delivered within an accelerated timeframe owing to other project dependencies.
Solution
Geopanel was identified as the perfect solution. Geopanels lightweight, modular design meant that cranes or mechanical lifting equipment were not required (allowing traffic flow), and the panels were easily manually maneuvered within the confined spaces. Geopanel’s fast setup (up to 50% faster than traditional formwork solutions) allowed for the critical part of the project to be delivered on time..
Outcome
The project was so successful that Geoplast was employed in other parts of the Sydney Light Rail Project.
