We stock both penetrating sealers, which protect the concrete from within, and surface sealers, which form a protective layer on top.

Oil-based sealers seep deeply into the slab, providing durability and protection for extended periods outdoors. They provide a deeper colour but are more time-consuming to dry, can darken the surface and tend to have a stronger smell. Water-based sealers are simpler to apply, take less time to dry, produce less odours and are safer for the environment. Water-based sealers are also cheaper to purchase initially, but will need reapplication sooner. The right choice depends on your surface, desired look and maintenance expectations.

A concrete sealant’s lifespan is typically between two and five years, depending on the product, the amount of traffic the surface receives and the weather it is subjected to. High-traffic or extreme conditions, like driveways and commercial floors, might need to be resealed sooner.

Penetrating sealers permeate the pores of the concrete, establishing an invisible barrier from moisture and stains. Surface sealers remain on the surface of the slab as a visible film that can also enhance colour and gloss.

Concrete sealer is designed to protect and enhance the surface while still allowing the concrete to breathe, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. Epoxy creates a hard, non-breathable coating that offers durability and a different visual finish. Epoxy is better suited to covered or indoor areas, while sealer is more versatile and cost-effective for general use.

For best results:

1. Thoroughly clean the surface and fill any defects or cracks.
2. Allow the slab to dry completely.
3. Apply sealer with a sprayer or roller in thin, uniform coats.
4. Section them to maintain a wet edge and prevent overlaps.
5. Do not seal in extreme heat, heavy rain or high humidity.

Driveways, patios, garage floors and indoor concrete all may be improved by sealing. Vary your method depending on conditions — i.e., apply penetrating sealers in high-moisture or freeze-thaw zones for optimum long-term protection.

Two thin coats are better than one thick coat. Allow the initial coat to dry completely before putting on the second. This ensures improved adhesion, increased longevity and a more even finish.
