Hessian is a woven fabric made from jute or sisal fibres and has a wide range of uses. On the construction site, hessian is most commonly used to protect freshly laid concrete from light rain and prevent water run-off washing off the surface. Hessian can also be used as a form of curing. Laying wet hessian over freshly laid concrete helps hydrate the surface and works as a wet curing method.
