Control Joints

It’s common knowledge that as concrete cures, it shrinks. If left unchecked, this shrinkage will result in uncontrolled cracking which is both unsightly and may compromise the structural integrity of the concrete.
Control joints are designed to control this unsightly cracking and encourages the concrete to crack in a controlled manner along the joint.
Often control joints also require dowels to strengthen the joint providing effective load transfer as a load passes over the joint.
