Z Bar

A z bar is a coarse-threaded tie bar used to support formwork in concrete construction. The coarse thread allows the bar to be cut at any point with nuts and couplers threaded straight on without deburring. For z bar formwork, hot-rolled z bars must be used, as cold-rolled bars have lower strength and are not suitable for structural formwork ties. A Z bar is typically enclosed in conduit and passed through the centre of the formwork, allowing it to be removed and reused once the concrete is poured. This makes concrete z bars a reliable and cost-effective solution for forming walls and columns, supported by Allcon’s full range of formwork supplies, formwork ties and concrete supplies.
